Data Loggers

Intro

GeyserTimes hosts logger temperature data provided by the National Park Service and the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory. Temperature data generates considerable interest among researchers. The primary use of these loggers is identifying when geysers erupt. Temperature loggers are often placed in runoff channels near the geyser and therefore they are not good indicators of pool temperature or "system" temperature. Before using this data, please read this primer on data loggers from Ralph Taylor.

Considerable effort has been put into standardizing all data logger files to convert them to the same time zone format. Sometimes loggers were deployed with either an incorrect timezone or had internal clock issues. This is not the raw data, it has been massaged to make it more manageable. If you find an error in the data, please contact support@geysertimes.org.
