Marler writes in his 1962 annual report, pg. 15: “On the morning of April 17 to my great surprise I noted that the Vent was erupting without any apparent concerted activity of Turban. Upon visiting the site, the independent action of Vent proved to be the true situation. To make matters more puzzling it was evident there had been no precursor eruption of Grand. The water in the craters of both Grand and Turban was down about 8 inches. About an hour and a half after this observation, Grand erupted.” |
