Comments:Large group of gazers waiting at Fan and Mortar, eruption started with a large boil to about 5 feet then quickly started bursting. I wrote h=45 feet in my notebook, but based on pictures I think that's probably generous. It's somewhat angled so it looked kind of like a milky, thrashing, triple-wide Daisy with a truly mind-blowing amount of runoff that overflowed the runoff channel and plunged into the firehole in a muddy waterfall. More than half of the river was flowing muddy in the 30 minutes or so after the eruption. There had been several eruptions already that season, including one the previous day, so there wasn't much bacteria left to rip up. I screamed like a lunatic.
