Latest Notes

Note IDStart Time (US/Mountain)End Time (US/Mountain)EntrantNote
17220 27 May 2021 @ 1137 --- JSJ Basin empty & dry all day. No eruptions. Same with adjacent "Little Miser Geyser". Same with Little Crack Geyser.
13204 12 Aug 2019 @ 1040 --- JSJ Active again today - having eruption series from 1 vent or 2 vents.
11775 13 Jun 2019 @ 1449 --- JSJ The southeastern vent of Impatient Miser Geyser's basin (= Pool Geyser's vent 4 of Landis, 1989) is occasionally erupting (small/low), as seen previously on 6/3/2019, 6/7/2019, and 6/11/2019.
11738 11 Jun 2019 @ 1148 --- JSJ What appears to be the southeastern vent is still active - same behavior as on 6/3/2019 & 6/7/2019. This is Pool Geyser's vent 4 of Landis (1989) - Hydrothermal Observations in Yellowstone National Park, 1988, pp. 184, 341. This is vent 7 of Wolf & Paperiello, 1989, Report on the Kaleidoscope & Sprinkler Groups, pp. 25, 26, 32, 33. Frequently active today - usually very low to low spouting from a non-water filled basin.
11637 07 Jun 2019 @ 1123 --- JSJ What appears to be the southeastern vent is active again - same behavior as 4 days ago (= Pool Geyser's vent 4 of Landis, 1989 - Hydrothermal Observations in Yellowstone National Park, 1988, pp. 184, 341) (= vent 7 of Wolf & Paperiello, 1989, Report on the Kaleidoscope & Sprinkler Groups, pp. 25, 26, 32, 33).
11561 03 Jun 2019 @ 1012 --- JSJ No eruptions today from the southwestern vent or the northeastern vent - these are the normal two vents for Impatient Miser Geyser eruptions (four vents are in the basin). No standing water in the basin today. However, frequent, very low to low eruptions (with brief pauses) were coming from the southeastern vent (= Pool Geyser's vent 4 of Landis, 1989 - Hydrothermal Observations in Yellowstone National Park, 1988, pp. 184, 341), which I've never seen active before. Vent 4 had same activity today both during & between adjacent Little Miser Geyser's eruptions (which affected Impatient Miser's vents 1 & 3 eruptions in previous years - the normal vents).
3418 02 Aug 2016 @ 1147 02 Aug 2016 @ 1812 JSJ No Impatient Miser eruptions - basin empty and dry.
3348 07 Jul 2016 @ 1339 --- JSJ Impatient Miser Geyser dry and empty. Stayed that way all afternoon. No eruptions observed.
2978 05 Jun 2016 @ 1310 05 Jun 2016 @ 1905 JSJ No Impatient Miser Geyser eruptions observed this afternoon - basin was empty (seen from Fountain overlook platform).
2527 13 Aug 2015 @ 1100 13 Aug 2015 @ 1722 JSJ Impatient Miser Geyser's basin was water-filled - all vents in the basin were covered. Water-filled basin formed 1 body of water with the immediately-adjacent hot spring pool to the north ("Sprinkler Pool").

The erupting feature in the right near-background is North Angle Geyser.
