Comments: | Water rising in Mastiff at 1708:00 with Bijou still on, no pause. Feather on at 1708:45. Feather's Satellite on at 1708:57, with Mastiff overflow and variable boiling from a few inches to 2-3 feet. Cave overflowed and Mastiff began to surge to as high as 5 feet, though most was 1-2 feet. At 1711 Mastiff overflow increased dramatically and it surged to the height of the cone before starting to erupt. Feather shut off shortly after Mastiff started and Bijou went into powerful steam phase. Mastiff erupted for about 1m15s, then stopped at 1713 and dropped well below overflow. Everything was off for 4 minutes except for Bijou, which got gradually weaker. Water was visible in Mastiff, fluctuating from just out of sight to about 8 inches below overflow with occasional boils and bursts. At 1717 Mastiff finally rose back to overflow and started erupting again almost immediately. Feather and Feather's Satellite restarted quickly, followed by Posthole and Posthole Satellite, and then the Southwest Vents. Mastiff reached 40 feet and lasted about 3 minutes before Giant started at 1720. |
