Eruption Detail

Tour guide Laura Lyznicki was at Steamboat with a group of guests when Steamboat started, but she did not record a start time. She described a large surge from South Vent that sustained and was joined by a rocket above the trees from North Vent and Steamboat went into full eruption. The eruption was loud, streaked with brown, and throwing rocks. Due to winter conditions there was no way to see how tall it was.

I have a video of this eruption. Winds made height measurement near impossible. We arrived shortly after Laura upon hearing it start from the parking lot.
