| Comments: | North vent went into steam quickly at 1304. 1313 NV back to water and wind direction changed so water started to waterfall down the back wall. 1320 water in the NV channel and SV has mixed steam water. 1332 NV back to steam, SV steam. 1340 Both vents in heavy steam phase. Not much water down the SV runoff channel early in the eruption. Wind direction at the start was to the East so most of the intial water went into the trees on the far side of the platform. Impressive runoff from the trees and down a deeply cut channel to the east of SV that put water down the back channel. SV runoff mostly dry at 1545. From 1357 on, NV cycled from steam to water off and on till i left at 1600. The eruption stayed clean, no muddy water and no pauses! Ranger Mark measured this event at 355'. |
