Comments:still going at 4:30 pm. ..this geyser has a strange pattern. One slender jet was up to about 20 feet; the remainder of the bursts were massive and did not exceed 6 feet. Strong concentric waves are constantly in action and the overflow is to the west through the boardwalk fissure and out through the East Fork of Tantalus Creek. When the geyser is not actually surging the water is steadily seething very actively – it must be hot. Blue must have had a violent beginning as a geyser as the large pieces of broken sinter and the shape of the crater suggest. There is still a lot of power but the water level is so high during eruption that the steam explosions are partially stifled.
