Note: | [Copied from listserv report] By 2235 (6/10), Steamboat overflow at the lower bridge returned to levels seen 12 hours earlier. Some of the minors ejected enough water that the flow stream became turbulent. The left (west) side of the channel was damp.
By 0015 (6/11), some minor eruptions began with a booming sound. Runoff at the lower bridge increased. By about 0100, the minor eruptions were nearly continuous. At the lower bridge, flow fronts from individual minors were hard to distinguish. There was a continuous rumbling and splashing sound from the vents. When I returned to the lower observation platform, I saw a series of large minors, some throwing water to 50 feet and flooding the runoff channel. Several times, I was certain that a major eruption had started only to see the eruption stop. Finally, the major eruption began at 0106. |
