Steamboat, 24 days since eruption, is about the same. There may be more plays per given period but they are of less duration & volume. From 8:40 am to 9:10 am, the south vent played 38 times while the north vent played 4 times. The south vent play did not produce much runoff – they were as high (30’) as 5 days ago but not as massive. The north vent play was very weak. From 2:43 pm to 3:13 pm, the south vent was active 32 times, the north vent again 4 times. At 3 pm following a minute or so of quiet, the north vent surged twice to about 30 feet – these are the strongest seen in a long time.
The water level is still below the ledge- about 10 feet down. Not much runoff in main channel. |
