Comments: | Wet and foggy conditions with a white wall of clouds for a backdrop. I caught the start from the middle observation deck and ran towards steerage just in time for the wave of water running downhill and soaking the bridge. Watched the remainder of 10 minute water phase from Decker Island. Audible drop in the pitch of rumbling occurred at 10 minutes signaling end of water phase. Eruption occurred out of a lull that began around 13:30. Less than a minute of strong activity before takeoff. Activity was lead by NV reaching 40-50' vertical. I observed until 21:00 and noticed only one short period between 18:40-18:45 when south vent switched to mixed water/steam. A very muddy brown Cistern had drained approx. 4 inches by the time I left. |
