From "Hot spring activity in the geyser basins of the Firehole River for the 1967 season," pg. 14: "On August 20 Vent erupted independently of Grand and Turban. This is a certain precursor to an eruption of Grand. Vent's independent activity is of rare occurrence. There is no record of it prior to the 1959 earthquake. Previous to the August 20 occurrence it was last observed in 1964." |
