Has more water in the pool than ive seen lately. The dry caked mud at the bottom of the pool is partially covered in water and it has areas beneath the vent and on the edge toward Congress that have a small roiling boil. Also the color milk chocolate. |

8/6/1988 Hurricane Vent In Porcelain Basin, Hurricane Vent has an upside down (for a geyser, that is) eruption. It’s eruption is preceded by increased steaming from the fumeroles to the north. After several minutes of increased steam, water overflows from a horizontal crack in the rock, which is about one foot long and about 1½ feet above the water level, on the north side. The water flows out for about 1-2 minutes. |

06/19/1976 Hurricane Vent – first waterfall I have seen in a hot spring. The cracks in the Northeast side of the vent have enlarged over the winter. Water appears to be constantly flowing from a crack in the vent, dropping two feet to the pool at the base of the vent. |

09/25/1971 Hurricane Vent has a line of 1 inch high bright yellow sulphur crystals being deposited from steam vents near the top NE edge of the Hurricane pit. In that the crystals are long, relatively separate from each other, and are in sharp contrast to the brownish purple soil below, I can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful sights that I have seen in the basin all summer.
