4640 02 Aug 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 8/2/1981 Pequito Geyser – active ‘n splashing to 8 inches, clear water 165ºF
5098 15 Sep 1978 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/15/1978 *Pequito Geyser – was erupting! Just 6 to 8 inches though. Temp 189ºF
5113 19 Aug 1977 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/19/1977 Pequito and nearby vents are splashing water a couple of inches high. This is the first time I have seen water in these vents since the first of the year.
5104 14 Jun 1977 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/14/1977 Pequito Geyser – next to no activity. Cone has very interesting sinter deposits. Small amount of H20 coming out.
5255 31 Aug 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/31/1976 Pequito has dried up to only steam. There are 5 new cracks in the surrounding area, all producing steam.
5254 30 Aug 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/30/1976 Pequito hasn’t been seen going higher than 4’ for the last few days. No splashes have been seen at Pinwheel.
5257 26 Aug 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/26/1976 Pequito is not as high now as previously most of the time only 3’-4’ with occasional periods to 10’
5265 06 Aug 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/06/1976 Pequito Geyser: Twice today during eruptions of Whirlygig Pequito activity subsided. Activity increased after Whirlygig ceased erupting.
5560 14 Jul 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/14/1976 Pequito geyser again has been the target for vandals, rocks, some bigger than fist size have been thrown in area, probably to see if geyser will move them out of the way. Also it still appears to be spouting continuously.
5583 14 Jul 1976 @ 0830 --- research-mab 07/14/1976 Pequito was in a forceful water phase at 0830. The eroded channels near the boardwalk were full of water & bubbling quite nicely. Pinwheel was quiet- no bubbles seen at all.
5551 12 Jul 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/12/1976 A new batch of rocks was observed around the vent of Pequito Geyser (which has been showing almost constant activity). There was no noticeable activity at Pinwheel.
5545 09 Jul 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/09/1976 Pequito seems to be almost constantly emitting steam and/or water 10’-15’
5540 06 Jul 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/06/1976 Pequito has been acting in its usual pattern while Pinwheel has been ejecting more silt & rather vigorous bubbling.
5538 30 Jun 1976 @ 0845 --- research-mab 06/30/1976 New Geyser (called “Fife & Drums” by some, “Frijole” by others) was in a minor water phase at 0845. Eroded channels near boardwalk were dry, but Pinwheel was splashing away and emitting loud popping sounds.
5865 29 Jun 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/29/1976 {no times noted} Watched new geyser & Pinwheel for 25 min. At beginning of watch, new geyser was erupting about 1’ high & its eroded channel by the boardwalk was dry. Then it began pulsing higher & the channel filled with water. Pinwheel began emitting large bubbles from its vent & splashing as high as 2’ was seen. Big Whirligig began erupting after 5 minutes of this type of play.
5531 20 Jun 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/20/1976 The new geyser near Pinwheel has opened up a couple of more vents close to the boardwalk. Will have to a watch [sic] on them. The new feature, Pinwheel, and Splutter Pot all seem to be connected.
5530 07 Jun 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/07/1976 New spouter by Pinwheel quite active -spraying the boardwalk.
5527 02 Jun 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/02/1976 One of the little bubblers near the boardwalk near the platform in Porc. Has become a spouter shooting steam and water 6’-10’. Could be a problem if wind blowing wrong.
