19920 06 Oct 2021 @ 1413 --- cb Pool is cloudy light brown color and more blue green in the center with 2 boiling points on the northern side of the pool and the east end. Colloidal Pool was mostly blue green and fairly clear for the past few weeks. Today it looks like thick chocolate milk. it has a few boils on the north end of the pool closest to Constant.
7620 11 Feb 1984 @ 1800 --- research-mab 02/11/1984 Sunday Geyser – Dormant, opal blue mod turbid, gasy at NW end 120gpm 85º
4665 08 Jul 1982 @ 1800 --- research-mab 7/8/1982 Sunday Geyser – Occasionally bursts to height of boardwalk Tomas
4653 27 Aug 1981 @ 1600 --- research-mab 8/27/1981 (Undated in log – placed on 27th based on log order) Lognote: Sunday Geyser is erupting at maximum 15 feet, but most eruptions are in the 5-10 foot ranges. The major activity is out of the left vent as seen from Africa, but there are quite a few comparable bursts out of the right vent. The action from the right vent increases as the left vent wanes. Activity in the left vent continues through the quiet period, so I’ve stopped using that as start of preplay. I am still using the start of 5 foot play from the left vent as the start of majors. Grover S
4863 26 Aug 1981 @ 1800 --- research-mab 8/26/81 The museum crew left today. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Gave them a final intimate tour of Porcelain Basin. Everything erupted for them (Sunday, Fireball, Arsenic, Basin, Constant, Big Whirligig, Splutter Pot, Blue and Graceful)
4650 22 Aug 1981 @ 1930 --- research-mab 8/22/1981 Sunday Geyser is resuming its behavior of Aug 7. The left vent as seen from Africa is occasionally having bursts of 20 feet or so, but most are 12 feet. Activity is continuous through quiet period. The minor activity is splashing 2 feet with occasional 3 ft bursts all from the right vents. I record start of preplay as when action starts in the left vent. Start of major play is when I saw bursts of more than 5 ft or so out of the left vents. Some eruptions are split in two by a quiet period that looks similar to preplay. The second is larger than the first of the 2.
4651 22 Aug 1981 @ 1835 --- research-mab 8/22/1981 Sunday Some bursts from right vent as seen from Africa geyser are as large as the left vent bursts. These come as activity in left vent subsides. Sunday’s majors are synchronous with Africa crater fills. Africa is filling to within 3 inches of crater rim. The second eruption of those separated by a 2m interval did not have the accompanying Africa of other majors. Grover Schrayer III
4642 14 Aug 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 8/14/1981 Sunday Geyser – Sunday is constantly active with irreg. increases and decreases in eruption. The eruptions at their heights are smaller than last week. Times of major eruptions are rather impossible to determine being so indistinct. I saw no water in Africa geyser crater. Arsenic Geyser is in perpetual spluttering as is Moxie and 2 other small spouters. Fireball is somewhat weak. Grover Schrayer III
4658 07 Aug 1981 @ 1800 --- research-mab 8/7/1981 Today I saw no water in Africa’s crater. If it is still filling in concert with Sunday’s majors it certainly isn’t visible from the boardwalk. Sunday isn’t as regular as July 30th. Also, some of the eruptions come in 2 parts separated by a lull in major activity. After the pause the eruption comes back, usually stronger. The eruptions are in the 15-20 foot range. Grover Schrayer III
4639 30 Jul 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 7/30/1981: Sunday doesn’t drain as it has in weeks past. The eruption now takes place out of numerous vents apparently along a fissure. As seen from Africa, the left vent erupts the highest (closest to trail), but the former major vent still has bursts to equal it. Boiling and small eruptions are continuous through the quiet period. Africa is filling higher in the crater again. It still fills in concert with Sunday preplay. Africa is filling to 2 inches from the rim. The strongest part of Sunday’s major seems to come with start of drain of Africa. After major activity subsides in all vents, the old major vent has some six foot bursts, but soon quiets to 2-3 feet doming. Report and observations by Grover Schrayer III
4638 27 Jul 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 7/27/1981 *Sundays eruptions are weaker than last week. The former minor vent is starting the main action, but all the {vents? Missing word} are involved in the eruption. Noticed small frying pan type bubblers in Sunday’s runoff channel. Grover
4636 26 Jul 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 7/26/1981 Sunday Geyser eruptions seem weaker today
4635 13 Jul 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 7/13/1981: Sunday Geyser is still increasing in height. It is having 3 types of eruptions; majors, short majors, and majors coming from left vent as seen from Africa. For the first several minutes after a major eruption, there is no activity in the craters, but activity steadily increases to a major once it has started. One one eruption today, the left vent took over major play after several seconds of play from both vents. The activity is about as high from that vent as the other when it is active. The water is ejected in 3 jets, in a fan shape. Grover Schrayer III
4633 04 Jul 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 7/4/1981: Sunday’s eruptions continue to gain strength. Each has some 40-45 foot bursts. Between majors the activity is mostly heavy boils with occasional periods of 3 ft eruptions. The quiet period is sometimes punctuated by minor short eruptions of larger 10 ft bursts. Looking toward Africa, a vent of Sunday to the left of the main vent is erupting to 2 ft or so. The beginning of Sunday’s majors are still synchronous with Africa’s fill. However, they last well after Africa’s drain. Africa’s fill is only sometimes high enough to be seen from the walk, but each time it tries {?}, it has been synchronous with Sunday’s major start.
4632 28 Jun 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 6/28/1981: Sunday is erupting over the boardwalk frequently & the water is HOT! I’ve noticed people standing next to it to have their pictures taken. We may have a problem.
4631 26 Jun 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 6/26/1981 Sunday bursts every 6-8 min but the intervals have 1-2’ continuous bursts
4630 24 Jun 1981 @ 1900 --- research-mab 6/24/1981 Africa and Sunday Geysers still are roughly synchronous on start times, but Sunday continues well after Africa start of drain. Saw one burst from Sunday that surely must have exceeded 35 ft. Difficult to see Africa filling, so starts of Africa’s fills after major start in Sunday could be due to poor visibility from the boardwalk. Sunday had a short eruption resembling a major at 1800:35 Grover S
4627 09 Jun 1981 @ 1800 --- research-mab 6/9/1981 SUNDAY Schrayer saw that at each of the first three times Sunday erupted Africa’s pool would be simultaneously full and overflowing. For the fourth eruption of Sunday that Grover caught Africa’s level only came to up to 6 inches below the rim.
4624 04 Jun 1981 @ 1800 --- research-mab 6/4/1981 Africa Geyser – dormant, Sunday Geyser active
4607 02 Jun 1981 @ 1800 --- research-mab 6/2/1981 Sunday Geyser Appears to have taken energy from Africa’s system. Eruptions of turbid gray water to 20 feet were occurring every five minutes. Considerable overflow was leaving the area.
5084 23 Jun 1980 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/23/1980 Sunday Geyser dropped 6 inches
